NICKY ROMERO’S TOP 3 MEXICAN FESTIVALS
The BPM Festival
The big daddy of Mexican dance music festivals. BPM lasts a full ten days, featuring performances from over 375 of the world’s finest underground DJs at showcases hosted by the scene’s most vital labels. The luxurious resort of Playa Del Carmen plays host, with beach parties taking place through the daylight hours before clubs takeover as night draws in.
Electro Beach is Mexico’s premier EDM festival. Running daily for consecutive weeks in March, the event offers up a spring break experience like no other. Every year without fail they attract the world’s biggest superstars to bring the heat. Tiësto, Steve Aoki, Calvin Harris, Avicii and Alesso are just some of the artists that have appeared on Electro Beach line-ups. Stacked.
Electric Daisy Carnival
Electric Daisy Carnival only launched in Mexico in 2014 but has already established itself as a vital event on the festival calendar. Parent company Insomniac ploughs money into the production value, making EDC one of the most visually striking festivals around. Fireworks, lasers, fairground rides and decoration feature in abundance alongside diverse line-ups studded with international heavyweights and a healthy dose of local talent.
