Switch On The Night

The Beats

18 Aug 2015

Listen to the gritty bass-in-your-face beats of Apashe's 'No Twerk', his anti-twerk anthem.

We caught up with the man himself to discuss his track and his apparent hatred of twerking.

Q: Hey Apashe, I’ve got to ask, what do you have against twerking?

A: I don’t have anything against twerking. I don’t hate it, I promise, why does everyone think I hate it?

Q: Because all of your merch says “No Twerk” on it and you have a track called No Twerk.

A: Oh, it’s an old joke. We did the track when twerking was this huge trend, and it was absolutely everywhere and it was just – so, so, so bad. Now, there are people out there that can actually twerk quite well – they twerk with class, I know that. Back then though, we just wanted to do something against the whole movement. We wanted to make a track specifically for the people who couldn’t twerk.
